WHO FARTED? Non-Farter Players: Role and Responsibilities
What non-Farter players do in WHO FARTED?: the find-the-Farter objective, task and sabotage duties, reporting, voting, and spectating responsibilities.
Quick answer
Non-Farter players in WHO FARTED? are everyone in the roughly 10-player lobby who was not secretly picked as the Farter. Each round splits the cast into one secret Farter versus Innocent finders, and anyone not selected as Farter shares the investigation burden of identifying them.
- Your on-screen role label is patch-dependent: it may read innocent, survivor, or simply imply “everyone else” — trust the client text each update rather than any fixed name.
- Round-start gameplay footage shows players being assigned this side under the survivor label.
Round objective: find the Farter before getting farted on
If you are not the Farter, one player in the lobby is the secret Farter and everyone else must find them before getting farted on. Guide framing puts it as innocents winning by correctly identifying and stopping the threat, or, in the roles overview's words, identifying the Farter using checkable info before you become the punchline. Gameplay footage, however, shows a second path: when the survivors finished all their tasks, the round ended with "The survivors won" even though no Farter had been voted out. Public documentation doesn't currently say whether identification, task completion, or both are official win conditions, so check your client's objective banners and tutorial toasts each patch for which win path your lobby uses.
In-round task and sabotage duties (observed in gameplay)
Checklist
- Complete the round's map tasks
Gameplay shows a task progress tracker (7 out of 24 complete) and the on-screen guidance “Follow the white outlines. It's going to take you to your task.”
- Stay alive while you task
Players frame the duty as doing tasks “without getting farted on. If we get farted, we're dead.”
- Repair Farter sabotage
When the power is cut, players go fix the power machine to restore it: “The power's out… let's go fix the power machine.”
- Track threat-proximity cues while working
A suspect on the same level means, in players' words, “the farter is on the loose and he's nearby.”
Reporting, meetings, voting, and communication
When you find a body or witness the Farter, press the emergency/report button to force a team discussion — "I saw who it was. I need to press the button." As players put it, you're supposed to guess who it was and hold a meeting if you see somebody dead, then press the button and vote out. During the discussion, the lobby shares what it saw ("Okay, we're going to have a team discussion."; "Did anyone see a dead body?"). For meeting conduct: ask one clear question instead of dumping paragraphs, because clarity wins votes; if you use voice, still type your key claims so mobile players can follow; and stay calm — tilted chat is free cover for the Farter.
Spectating after elimination
Elimination does not end your responsibilities. If you die or lose early, spectate with purpose, and when you are out, do not spam chat. Watch who stops trying once the loudest townie dies and who pivots blame instantly onto the next convenient target, then carry those notes into your next lobby.
How the hidden Farter threat shapes this side
The hidden Farter defines your side's information conditions: information is asymmetric — the Farter knows their identity while the rest of the lobby must discover it — and false confidence is lethal, because a wrong vote wastes the only resource that matters: trust. Footage shows that cost directly, where the ejected player "was not the farter" and "The farter is still among us." In-round cues, such as a suspect appearing on your level, warn that the Farter is loose and nearby. With lobbies capped near 10 players, social reads matter, and players caution: "don't be trusting everybody in this game cuz they might betray you."
Evading the Farter while being hunted (observed in gameplay)
Gameplay footage of players being hunted shows the evasion side of the role: hide and stay silent while the Farter searches nearby — "you got to be really quiet don't make no noise," "all right he's up those stairs again just don't make no sounds" — and simply "just wait for him to come down." This is an observation of play, not developer documentation of a hiding mechanic, and it is not reconciled with the task-plus-meeting round structure shown in other footage.
Reference boundaries and patch freshness
Public documentation provides no private-ability sheet for non-Farter players, and no sub-roles, alignment charts, or third teams are documented — the non-Farter side is one undifferentiated group opposing the Farter. Role labels are patch-dependent, and because the game released in August 2026 with a public meta that public documentation itself describes as thin and shifting, recheck role labels and player-side mechanics after each update. This page is a role reference for the side's responsibilities; it does not walk through clue-by-clue identification tactics.
